Strategic Planning and Assessment

The School of the Arts and Communication at The College of New Jersey is committed to an ongoing and continuous cycle of planning and assessment that is mission driven and appropriate to the needs of each program in the school.

Read the mission statement for the School and each of our departments.

In academic year 2013, members of the Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee, in consultation with department chairs, evolved the school-based strategic plan to include more direct input from a larger group of faculty.  The departmental faculty are now engaged in direct conversation and development of departmental strategic plans. A timeline for completion of departmental plans can be found below.

Assessment initiatives in AY14 are being led by a team of four faculty members, one from each department in our School, and the assistant dean.  The primary focus of the Assessment Team in AY14 is to develop and maintain ongoing, meaningful assessment of student learning within our programs. It is the task of this team to ensure assessment information is broadly shared and used to improve teaching and learning in a manner fully integrated with the strategic planning process.
